Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 29, 2026
Blackline Studios ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to handling your information responsibly. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect from tattoo studio clients, how we use it, and how we protect it.
What We Collect
In the course of providing our services, Blackline Studios collects only the business and operational information necessary to deliver the contracted work. This includes:
- Business contact information (studio name, owner name, business email address, business mailing address)
- Phone numbers provided for booking confirmations, service communication, and intake system setup
- Studio brand assets (logos, color palettes, fonts, and other identity materials)
- Photographs, videos, and other content uploaded through intake forms, onboarding workflows, or content intake engines operated by Blackline Studios on the client's behalf
- Information submitted through booking and consultation intake forms associated with the client's studio systems
- Billing contact information for invoicing purposes
- Enquiries submitted through the contact form on this website — name, studio name, email address, Instagram handle and your message
We do not collect personal financial information (such as credit card numbers) directly. Payment processing is handled by third-party processors operating under their own privacy and security frameworks.
How We Use Your Information
Information collected is used solely to deliver, support, and improve the services outlined in each client's Master Service Agreement. Specifically, we use collected information to:
- Set up, configure, and maintain website systems and booking automation tools
- Produce and deliver contracted content (photography, video, digital assets)
- Configure and operate AI-powered intake and booking flows for the client's studio
- Send service-related communications, invoices, and project updates
- Respond to client inquiries and provide ongoing support
- Improve internal workflows and service quality over time
We do not use client information for any purpose unrelated to the contracted engagement.
Storage & Security
Blackline Studios employs industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards to protect the information we collect and store. These include access controls, encrypted data transmission, and secure storage practices appropriate to the nature of the information held.
Access to client information is limited strictly to Blackline Studios and any contractors engaged to deliver the contracted services. Anyone with access to client data is bound by confidentiality obligations.
While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely immune to security risks. Clients are encouraged to notify Blackline Studios promptly if they suspect any unauthorized use of their account or information.
Sharing of Information
Blackline Studios does not sell, rent, or trade client information to any third party. We do not share client information for marketing or advertising purposes outside the contracted engagement.
We share information only with service providers who assist us in operating and delivering our services — for example, web hosting providers, scheduling and booking platform vendors, payment processors, and cloud infrastructure services. These providers are given access only to the information necessary to perform their specific function and are required to maintain the confidentiality and security of that information.
We may also disclose information when required by law, regulation, or legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Blackline Studios, our clients, or others.
Client Content
Any photographs, videos, brand assets, or other content uploaded to or created through Blackline Studios's systems is treated as confidential client property. Such content is used exclusively to deliver the services contracted by the client and is not shared with, sold to, or used to benefit any other client or third party.
Clients are responsible for ensuring they hold the rights to any content they upload or provide to Blackline Studios, including obtaining any necessary model releases or permissions for individuals depicted in studio content.
SMS & Phone Communication
Phone numbers collected through Blackline Studios's systems are used for booking confirmations, appointment reminders, and service-related communications as part of the studio's booking and intake automation. Phone numbers are not shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes unrelated to the studio's contracted services.
Recipients of SMS or automated communications through Blackline Studios-operated systems may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message or by contacting Blackline Studios directly. Opt-out requests will be honored promptly and in accordance with applicable regulations.
Data Retention & Deletion
Blackline Studios retains client information for as long as the service agreement is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to fulfill legal, financial, and operational obligations (typically no longer than three years following termination of services, unless a longer retention period is required by law).
Clients may request deletion of their information by submitting a written request through the contact form on our homepage. We will respond to deletion requests within thirty (30) days. Note that certain records may be retained where required by law or legitimate business necessity (such as financial transaction records).
Your Rights
Some of these rights are guaranteed by law only in certain states and countries. Rather than ask you where you live, Blackline Studios extends all of them to everyone who contacts us:
- Access — ask what information we hold about you, and receive a copy of it
- Correction — ask us to fix anything inaccurate or incomplete
- Deletion — ask us to erase your information, subject to records we are legally required to keep
- Portability — receive your information in a common, machine-readable format
- Opt out — unsubscribe from any email, or reply STOP to any text message
- Non-discrimination — we will not refuse service, change your pricing, or reduce your service quality because you exercised any of these rights
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We never have, and no part of our business model depends on it.
To exercise any of these rights, use the contact form on our homepage. We will confirm your identity before acting on a request — this protects you from someone else making a request in your name — and we will respond within thirty (30) days. If a request is complex enough to need longer, we will tell you why before that deadline passes.
Cookies & Tracking
This website sets no advertising or analytics cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no session recording, and no third-party tracking script anywhere on it. There is no cookie consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
The site does load typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). That request reveals your IP address to Google, who handle it under their own privacy policy. It is the only third-party request the site makes from your browser.
Information you type into the contact form is sent to our own server, saved to our database, and delivered to our inbox by an email delivery provider acting on our instructions. We keep a copy so that an enquiry is not lost if an email goes astray. It is used to answer your enquiry and nothing else, and you can ask us to delete it at any time under Your Rights above.
Booking and intake systems we build for a studio are separate products and may set cookies of their own. Those are governed by that studio's privacy policy, not this one.
Information We Process for Our Clients
Much of the personal information that passes through our systems is not ours. When a tattoo studio hires us to run their intake, booking, or content workflows, their customers' details flow through software we operate on the studio's behalf.
In that arrangement the studio decides what is collected and why, and we act only on their instructions — the roles the law describes as controller and processor, or business and service provider. We use that information solely to deliver the service the studio contracted for. We do not use it for our own marketing, we do not use it to build our own audience, and we do not sell it.
If you are a customer of one of our client studios and want to make a request about your information, contact that studio first, as they hold the relationship. If you reach us instead, we will pass your request to them and support them in answering it.
Changes to This Policy
We revise this policy as our services change or as the law requires. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
If a change materially affects how we handle information belonging to an active client, we will tell them directly rather than relying on them to notice the page changed.
Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, how we handle your information, or wish to submit a data request, please use the contact form on our homepage. We will respond within two business days.
